4Real Dive Watch  Aug 10, 2009
By SAL "real diver"
I bought the Seiko orange SNM037 watch specifically for diving. Its big and easy to read, easy to handle even over a wetsuit. I think it is great.

About automatics - they turn off if you don't use them. As as I use this watch specifically for diving I view this as an advantage.

Dive watches has gasketing or o-rings that have a finite life, and if you have an electric watch they have (or should) be replace every time the battery is replaced.

My electric dive watch was good for about three years until I had to have the battery and gaskets replaced, This was not cheap and must be repeated every few years.

On the other hand, my mechanical Seiko will last a lot longer because it will not have to be opened for battery replacment - it will last until the o-rings give out (I'm told about 10 years based on about 100 or so dives a year, and NOT using it for a daily watch).

Treat a dive watch as you do your dive gear or dive camera - rinse it with fresh tap water after you dive, and the gaskets will last longer.

5Great everyday watch.  Feb 19, 2009
By Chris D. Rasmussen "Gadgethead"
I have this watch. I bought it about a month ago and it's great looking and keeps great time for a non-battery watch. It runs for about 3 days after I take it off and is easy to set and get going again. The band is very comfortable and is easy to adjust to my big wrist. I forget I have it on sometimes. The glow in the dark hands and markers are good and the lightness lasts all night as I wear it to bed for "time check" instead of trying to see the clock radio because I'm visually impaired. The orange face makes it easy to see. I don't dive but this watch is rugged and nice looking at the same time.
I highly recommend it.

5Looks good, Soldier Proof, so far Iraq proof...  Sep 01, 2010
By skidmark
Looks good and works well. Ive been wearing it everyday while deployed in Iraq and it has never let me down. The time is a little fast and gains a minute or so a week. The date is a pain to set especially if you are a redneck and hate instructions...

Waterproof.... Havent tested it. It is shower proof though!
Shockproof.... Yep!
Oh! Shiney!.... Most definately!
Stupid simple reliable.... Yes! No batterys to change, nothing to wind. Just wear it everyday and it will keep on ticking!

4Very Nice Watch  Nov 27, 2009
By Paul Hite
Both the watch and the band are very rugged. This watch is going to last a long time. I don't feel that I have to change my watch when I go to the gym. I think it looks great! Not everyone agrees with me, but I bought it for me, not them. My vision is not great, but I can read this watch without my glasses even in low light conditions. A self-winding watch shuts down when you don't use it and yes, this is a plus. You are not consuming the watch's life span while you use a different watch for a while. But I remove my watch as I go to bed, and this is the first self-winder I have encountered that won't stay running overnight. I must reset the watch almost every morning. Also, notice the two stems on the watch. The upper stem is used to set the time and it works fine. The lower stem controls the inner bezel which has compass directions on it. You unscrew this stem, pull it out, and use it to rotate the bezel. Then you're supposed to push it in, and screw it back in tight. This last operation disturbs the setting of the bezel by several degrees. (I can predict the effect and with a few tries eventually get the setting I want.) I don't use the inner bezel so it is not a real big deal. In view of this and the "lasting all night" issue, I must give only 4 stars. However, despite the flaws, I have taken to wearing this watch everyday for several months now. As of this writing, it is my current favorite.

5The Perfect Beater Watch  Nov 27, 2010
By Fearsome Puppy
Picked up the SNM037 in Toronto, was looking for an Orange Monster at the time but this one caught my eye first. Very solid watch which I think both looks good and for outdoor or rough sporting activity is perfect - highly legible (both daytime and night-time) and 200m WR. The oem rubber strap it comes with looks good, though initially is a bit on the stiff side. Highly recommended...
